Our social entrepreneurs programme is a pioneering initiative delivered through our partnership with the School for Social Entrepreneurs and the Big Lottery Fund has a proven track record of supporting bright ideas that make a difference. The programme will distribute £12m and support over 1,300 social entrepreneurs over 5 years, benefitting 800,000 people in local communities and creating 4,000 jobs.

In addition to the standard grant, each of our Scale Up entrepreneurs is given the opportunity to win a further £10,000 and the title of Social Entrepreneur of the Year.
Once again we have been bowled over by the drive and passion of these entrepreneurs. Hearing their stories has been truly inspirational. Social entrepreneurs have an important role to play in the economy. We are delighted to be involved in this initiative and to support these enterprises and I know our colleagues have also got a tremendous amount out of it by volunteering and acting as mentors. It is another demonstration of our commitment to helping Britain prosper.
Opening a new business is hard and there are moments I feel like it is all too much for me. At those times, having Jonathan at the end of a phone makes a big difference.
