Pudsey for Pudsey
13th November 2015 Happening in North England
Supporting Appeal Night in Pudsey.
Hundreds of Lloyds Banking Group colleagues at Pudsey call centre, dedicated nearly 1,500 hours of enthusiastic support for their Charity of the Year, BBC Children in Need, by volunteering to answer the calls and process the many millions of pounds donated by the public late into the Appeal Night telethon on Friday 13 November.
Pudsey was one of six Lloyds Banking Group call centres being used to answer calls from those donating this year, including Edinburgh, Belfast, Newport, Pendeford and Solent and provided 300 volunteers on the night. Reinforcing its role as the charity's Principal Partner, the Group will be the largest provider of call centres to the charity this year, with 720 telephone lines and over 1,700 volunteers.
The Lloyds Banking Group Pudsey call centre supported BBC Children in Need Appeal Night for the first time this year and there is much excitement amongst Group colleagues as Pudsey Bear was actually named after their hometown in West Yorkshire.
In addition to volunteering during Appeal Night, Pudsey Group colleagues organised their own fundraising and community outreach activity for BBC Children in Need during Appeal Week, through dressing up as childhood heroes and taking part in fundraising activities such as ‘Back to School’ dress down day, bake sales, tuck shop, raffle, quizzes and Fergy Bingo. During Appeal Night, volunteers dressed up as their childhood Heroes and between calls played Table Football, Giant Jenga and participated in quizzes to help raise more funds.
Thanks to being good friends with Pudsey Bear, Group colleagues also invited Pudsey to visit Calverley Parkside Primary School to surprise and thank the pupils and Group volunteers for all of their efforts supporting the Champions of Change initiative.
Brian Roddick, Head of Colleague IT Service Desk, Lloyds Banking Group Pudsey said “With BBC Children in Need being our Charity of the Year this year, the team has already gone the extra mile with its volunteering and fundraising activities and so far we’ve raised over £9,500 through bake sales, bingo, sports challenges, dress down days and our Milestone Roadshow."
